Join the Free Community Rowing Lessons

Many of us got to try out rowing last month, and we are so thrilled that Matt Lehrer has invited us back to try a series of zero cost summer sessions offered specifically for PD patients and caregivers.

These two independent series of sessions will be smaller in size (6 rowers total) and will be run in sculling boats (1-2 person boats with each rower having two smaller oars) for more individualized instruction and speed of skill development.

The summer offerings will each run one day a week over six sessions total. If you are planning to participate, please register swiftly as it greatly helps in planning and staffing

Click the links below to register. You'll need to create a log-in for the CRI system to complete registration.

Webinar: Wednesday, July 9th at 1pm: Pre-motor Parkinson's

When does Parkinson’s disease really begin? For years, a Parkinson’s diagnosis has focused on visible symptoms like tremor, slowness, stiffness, and walking challenges. But we also know that the pathological changes that accompany PD start decades earlier. These changes can result in more hidden signs, like smell loss, constipation, and certain sleep disorders (known collectively as pre-motor or non-motor symptoms). These early clues, combined with exciting breakthroughs in biomarkers and genetics, are transforming our understanding of Parkinson’s and opening new doors for earlier detection and intervention.

Dr. Rebecca Gilbert and special guest Dr. Michael Schwarzschild will have an eye-opening conversation about how Parkinson’s may begin long before the first tremor appears and talk about redefining a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Click to Register.

Webinar: Wednesday, July 9th at 3pm: Palliative Care and PD

Palliative care is often thought to be for end of life. It is actually care that focuses on enhancing the quality of life for those with incurable illnesses and their families. Management of non-motor symptoms, care-giver support, and advanced care planning are just a few of the levels of support needed for all people living with Parkinson’s. Dr. Benzi Kluger will walk us through how palliative care can help us all. Click to Register.

Webinar: Tuesday, July 29th at 3pm: Parkinson's Dementia vs. Typical Age-Related Decline

Dementia is a common and commonly confused non-motor symptom that can develop with Parkinson’s disease. Learn directly from a movement disorder specialist, Maria Cristina Ospina, in this dynamic Q&A-style presentation, and leave understanding hallmarks of PD dementia and how to distinguish them from signs of typical age-related cognitive decline. Maria Cristina Ospina, MD is a movement disorder neurologist in a private practice as well as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Arizona. Click to Register.
