Peabody TRIAD Council - Fraud & Scams, Fire Prevention Presentation Spring 2018

The Peabody TRIAD Council meets once a month and works diligently to present their programs to all Peabody seniors and to develop & implement programs which enrich and protect the day-to-day living of all the seniors in our community. These programs are currently being presented at various venues, including Senior Housing.TRIAD events have been held at the following sites for information and distribution of TRIAD materials.

We encourage you to ... Get Involved!

We are writing to ask you to participate in a survey.  We are not seeking funds, just your ideas.  

The City of Peabody is seeking to become an Age Friendly City, a program directed by

AARP nationally and the World Health Organization internationally. To achieve this status,
we must identify and correct any situation where possible, that impedes healthy and safe
living for Seniors. Mayor Bettencourt and City Administrators are committed to maintaining and improving CityServices for Seniors and eager to support this effort.

Our shining example of this commitment is the Torigian Senior Center. If you wish to have more information about our organization, please visit us to take advantage of the programs. The survey can be downloaded and printed or obtained in one of this month's newsletters.  It is an important step in gathering information to identify the unmet needs of our Seniors in Peabody. The survey would take about 15 minutes to complete. Please feel free to add any comments. 

An envelope is provided in this months newsletter for your convenience to return the survey. You may also print it and use the drop box at the Senior Center. We look forward to your participation!

Shout out to “DigitalWaveSigns” and Scott Lohan for the design wrap on our new MV1 vehicle.

We are the first transportation system on the North Shore with this vehicle and Scott’s design 

really makes it “POP”.

Mobility Assistance Program - Grant for New Vans

On Thursday, July 6, 2017, we were honored to have Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito come to the Peabody Council on Aging to speak about the Mobility Assistance Program. 

This year with the funds from this program, the Peabody Council on Aging received six new vehicles; three 8-Passenger vans, one 14-Passenger van, one 16-Passenger van and a Handicapped Accessible car called the MV-1.

The grant provides 80% of the cost of these new vehicles with the Friends of the Peabody Council on Aging providing the 20% local match.  These new vehicles will replace some older vehicles in our fleet.  The new vans will help us provide the almost 50,000 rides per year to Seniors and disabled residents of Peabody.

Speakers included Mike Berry, Mass DOT Legislative & Community Affairs and Astrid Glynn, Mass DOT Rail & Transit Administrator.  Pictured with the Lieutenant Governor are:  Mayor Ted Bettencourt, Jr., Peabody Council on Aging Director Carolyn Wynn,  Board Members of both the Peabody Council on Aging and ‘Friends of the Peabody Council on Aging’,  Senator Joan Lovely, State Representative Tom Walsh and the Councilors of the City of Peabody.
